HEALTHY SNACKS

During the summer months, fresh fruit is always a good snack, especially when cold or frozen. If laying by a pool or going to the lake, try freezing strawberries or grapes. Make a fruit salad to have on hand or cut up watermelon so it is ready, or you can take it to work as part of your lunch!

Craving chips but not all the calories and fat? Try finding a healthier alternative. Whole Foods and Trader Joes have some great choices, just make sure that you check the calories and fats. Whole Foods also has bulk granola, just try to stick with the ones that are under 5 grams of fats.

100 Calorie Snacks
Chocolate milk (1 cup skim milk with 1 tbsp chocolate syrup)
1 ounce baked potato chip
1 large fresh orange or 1 large apple
1/2 apple with 2 tsp peanut butter

200 Calorie Snacks
1 cup nonfat frozen yogurt
Smoothie: 1 cup of skim milk, 1/2 frozen banana and half a scoop of protein powder
2 low fat cookies, with a glass of skim milk

Almonds, unsalted, are always a great choice as a snack in between meals and a great source of vitamins and nutrients as well.
